the *best* Thai peanut sauce recipe
ok, we’re serious, this is actually the best Thai peanut sauce we’ve ever had. the best part? you can make it yourself.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 c. natural, smooth peanut butter
full of nutrients including vitamin E, magnesium, iron, selenium, and vitamin B6. also a good source of plant-based protein.
2 tbsp coconut aminos (sub soy sauce here if needed)
a lower salt and gluten-free alternative to soy sauce. contains both essential and non-essential amino acids (the building blocks of proteins!) which are very important for building muscle.
1 tbsp rice vinegar
improves digestive health, and may even act as a liver tonic. may also aid in beating fatigue.
2 tbsp coconut sugar (sub brown sugar here if needed)
contains healthy fats that are known to help prevent high cholesterol and heart disease.
2 tsp chili garlic sauce
to add spice! also have been shown to beat off symptoms of colds and flu by easing sinus and nasal congestion, increasing body temperature, and relieving respiratory problems.
3 garlic cloves : pressed or grated
highly nutritious through manganese, vitamins B6 and C, selenium, and fiber. also aids in boosting the body’s immune system.
1 tbsp lime juice
high in vitamin C and antioxidants. eating limes have also said to aid in iron absorption and promote healthy skin.
1 tbsp ginger : grated
ginger is a great antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. this means that ingesting it helps to keep your mouth healthy, and can help to soothe sore muscles.
1 tbsp sesame oil
high in antioxidants, contains Vitamin E, phytosterols, lignins, sesame, and sesaminol—all compounds which help to fight free radicals in your body, which may aid in reducing your risk of developing chronic diseases.
2 tbsp - 1/4 c. warm water
dependent upon if you want it to be a dipping sauce (less water) or dressing (more water)
INSTRUCTIONS
we love a simple recipe and this is one of the simplest! and tastiest, so that’s even better.
all you’ll do is combine all the above ingredients except water. whisk to fully combine everything.
next you’ll add the water, 1 tbsp at a time, until your desired consistency is reached. we typically use 2 tbsp when making a peanut sauce and 4 tbsp when making a dressing.
