How to Hard Boil the Perfect Egg
Who doesn’t love the classic debate what came first the chicken or the egg ??
Eggs are a great source of protein and one of my favorite go to snacks. They’re also great to add to salads, or any meal you may be lacking your protein consumption. Plus they’re good to grab on the go, leave the shells on. Just don’t forget about them in your bag!
Here’s how to make the perfect soft-medium-hard boiled egg. To each their own, right?
Place eggs in the bottom of a pot. Eggs should fit evenly on in the pan. Aka don’t stack them.
Fill the pan with cold water, 1 inch above the eggs. Add 1 cup of vinegar to the water — it may smell funky but this will help when peeling the eggs for that perfect easy peel.
Bring the water to a rolling boil on the stovetop over high heat.
Once the water comes to a boil, cover the pan with a lid and remove the pan from the heat. Do not lift the lid. Set a timer for the type of boiled egg you want, from 4 minutes to 12 minutes.
4 minutes : soft
6-8 minutes : medium
10-12 : hard
Fill a large bowl with ice and water.
Remove eggs from hot water and submerge in ice water.
Let cool for 7 minutes.
Keep the shell on to keep them fresh!
Make sure they’re cooled down enough before cracking them otherwise they can be quite messy to peel.
